☀️ Random Joys: 5 Little Things I’m Loving Right Now

My pups! |
There’s something really special about tuning into the little joys that quietly make each day better. They’re not grand or flashy—they’re the tiny rituals and comforts that ground me and give the day some rhythm. Here are five simple things I’ve been loving lately that bring a little happiness to my life right now:
🌞 1. Waking Up Earlier to Set the Tone
I never thought I’d say it (and my husband would agree), but I’ve become an early riser—and it’s been such a peaceful shift. There’s something magical about the quiet of the morning before the world fully wakes up. I sip my coffee, plan out my day, and sometimes just sit in silence. That one hour of calm sets a productive and centered tone that carries me through the day.
🌿 2. Getting Outside for Yard Work
I used to think of yard work as just another chore—but lately, it’s become one of my favorite ways to connect with nature and unplug. Pulling weeds, planting flowers, or just trimming back overgrowth feels meditative. There’s something about getting my hands in the dirt and breathing in fresh air that instantly improves my mood.
🏊♀️ 3. Daily Afternoon Swim
One of the biggest joys of summer? Our pool. I’ve been making it a habit to swim every afternoon—even just for 15 minutes. It cools me off, clears my head, and gives me a break from the day to day of running a home based business. Sometimes I float and let my thoughts wander, other times I get in a quick workout with my aquatic weights, one of the best purchases I made last year. It’s become a little daily retreat I look forward to.
📺 4. Ending the Night with Mad Men
After a long day, there’s nothing better than curling up on the couch and pressing play on my favorite show. For me, that’s Mad Men. (Fun fact, my husband bought me the black faux fur coat, with certificate of authenticity, that Betty Draper is wearing in Season 2 episode one.) The storytelling, the 1960s aesthetic, the complicated characters—I’m completely pulled in. Watching it again feels like catching up with an old friend, and it’s the perfect way to wind down before bed.
💛 5. Quality Time With My Husband

Beautiful afternoon at Laurita Winery |
There’s a quiet joy in simply spending time with someone you love. This summer, my husband and I have made it a point to really enjoy the season together. Whether it’s taking a slow stroll through Peddler’s Village, sharing a glass of wine at Laurita Winery, or cooking a cozy dinner side by side—it all feels meaningful.
But one of our absolute favorite things? Sitting out on the gazebo in the evening, surrounded by the calm of our yard. No noise, no distractions. Just the breeze, a comfy chair, and great conversation. Those moments always remind me how lucky I am to have this life and this love.
