When Life Feels A Little Too Full

Do you ever get to that point where everything feels… a little too much? Like, you’re doing all the things?

Laundry’s half done, dinner’s in some stage of prep, your phone keeps buzzing, and meanwhile you’re just standing there thinking, I need five minutes where nobody needs me.

Yeah, I’ve been there too.

Here’s the thing: I used to think I had to power through those moments. Keep pushing, keep crossing things off the list, keep pretending I was fine. But lately, I’ve been leaning into something softer. I’ve been giving myself permission to step away for a minute. Maybe it’s a puzzle break (because you know me), maybe it’s a walk around m6 property with my dog, or maybe it’s just sitting on the porch with coffee, doing absolutely nothing productive.

And you know what? The world doesn’t fall apart when I do that. In fact, everything feels a little lighter after.

I think we’re too hard on ourselves. We’re told to “balance it all” like balance means being superwoman every single day. But maybe balance is more about letting go in the moments that are too heavy. Maybe it’s about remembering that the dishes will still be there in an hour, but your sanity might not if you don’t breathe first.

So if you’re feeling stretched thin, I’m raising my glass to you tonight. Step back, even just for a few minutes. Do the thing that makes you feel like you again, even if it’s small. That’s the good stuff. That’s what keeps us going.

Because honestly? We don’t need perfect. We just need those little moments of exhale in the middle of all the chaos.
