Baked oatmeal with apple topping

I had a bunch of apples to use up from a, family apple picking outing, and so I decided on a nice, baked oatmeal with a apple topping.

- 1 orange squeezed

- apple pie spice or pumpkin pie spice

cups old-fashioned oats

cup raisins or dried cherries

cups milk

cup packed brown sugar

tablespoons butter or margarine, melted

teaspoon ground cinnamon

teaspoon salt

medium apples, chopped (4 cups)

- Heat oven to 350°F. In 2-quart casserole, mix oats, 4 cups milk, butter, cinnamon and salt and apples.
- In a separate bowl, mix apples, raisins (or cherries), 2 tbsp orange juice, brown sugar and apple pie spice or pumpkin pie spice.
- Spoon apple mixture over the oatmeal mixture

Bake uncovered 40 to 45 minutes or until most liquid is absorbed. Top with walnuts. Serve with additional milk.
