Upcycle: Old sweater into cute pet bed

My kitty has been in need of a new good resting place, and when I saw this idea on Facebook, I decided to give it a try.


What you need:
  1. old sweater
  2. polyfil or cut up rags for stuffing
  3. yarn needle
  4. yarn
Stuff top body and arms of the sweater with Polyfil. using yarn needle and yarn rough stitch where the poly-fill and at the body of the sweater. Like this…
 
Stuff one end of arm into the other end of the of the other arm, and fold the remaining body of the shirt over the arms. Stitch the folded over part to the body of the pet bed

Next, you will stitch the arms to the body of the pet bed. The finished product will look like this…

You can stitch shut the neck opening, but in this case I left it open, so I have the option to remove the Polyfil and wash the sweater

This project took me a little over an hour and my cat loves his new pet bed

I have waited so long to make this post, and even though we are not done yet, I just have to share our progress. Finishing our basement wasn't something I thought we would ever do. With the exception of all of out fitness equipment, it remained a big empty space. Christmas Snowglobe Soaps

This is actually a project my son and I did last year. It was so much fun to create these! You will need: Ice cube trays Glycerin soap clear and white Little (and I mean little) toys for the center. I used mini Christmas buttons...make sure whatever you choose doesn't have really sharp edges. Soap scent (I did peppermint) Soap color dyes Bags for packaging First you want to break up your clear glycerin soap block. Put soap in a pot and melt over medium heat, stirring constantly. Once melted, add your coloring and soap scent. Pour melted soap into your ice cube trays about 3/4 full. Gently push your center decorations into the soap, upside down. * I should add that before you melt your clear soap, you will want to grate your white soap (my son used a spoon) and set aside.* Once you add your center deco, sprinkle the white soap on top of the  clear soap. carefully pop the ice cube trays in the freezer to set.
