๐Ÿ Fall Cleaning: A Fresh Start Before the Leaves Fall

When we think of deep cleaning, spring tends to steal the spotlight. But I’ve always loved a good Fall Cleaning. A chance to reset before the cozy chaos of the colder months arrives. While spring is about clearing out the old, fall is about preparing for what’s ahead: more time spent indoors, shorter days, holidays, and heartier routines.

Fall cleaning doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Think of it as a seasonal shift for your space to bring warmth, order, and comfort into your home and life before the pumpkins hit the porch.

Here’s why I love a good fall refresh:

  • ๐Ÿ‚ It helps me feel more grounded as the season changes

  • ๐Ÿ•ฏ️ I can swap out light summer scents for warm, spicy fall ones

  • ๐Ÿงค It gets me ready for hosting, decorating, and nesting

  • ๐Ÿ›‹️ I focus more on cozy corners and spaces I’ll be using more indoors

๐Ÿงฝ Simple Fall Cleaning Schedule

WEEK 1: Entryway + Seasonal Switch

  • Wipe down doorways and walls

  • Swap out summer shoes, sandals, and light jackets

  • Deep clean floor mats and rugs

  • Add a cozy basket for scarves, gloves, or umbrellas

WEEK 2: Kitchen Reset

  • Clean out pantry and wipe shelves

  • Take inventory for fall baking and cooking staples

  • Deep clean fridge and freezer

  • Wipe cabinets, backsplashes, and light switches

WEEK 3: Living Room Nesting

  • Dust and vacuum furniture and baseboards

  • Wash throws, pillow covers, and curtains

  • Clean windows to let in as much natural light as possible

  • Switch out summery decor for fall touches

WEEK 4: Bedroom & Linen Closets

  • Rotate or flip the mattress

  • Swap light bedding for warmer layers

  • Declutter nightstands and dressers

  • Organize linen closet and donate extras

Bonus Week (if you have time): Bathrooms + Self-Care Spaces

  • Scrub tubs, showers, and tile grout

  • Toss old toiletries and expired meds

  • Refresh hand towels and add a seasonal candle

  • Create a cozy self-care basket with lotions, teas, and favorite books

Fall is already such a sensory-rich season I like my home to feel like an extension of that. Whether you do it all in a month or just pick a room or two, give yourself permission to clean slowly and intentionally. It's not about perfection it's about feeling good in your space.
